July/August - Provide Mentoring, Resume Writing, and Interview Coaching

IWIN hosts a Resume Review and Faux Interview Workshop advertised to ISU students and interns working at the INL. IWIN members provide guidance on resume "dos and don’ts". There is also information on what to do, say, and wear in an interview. IWIN members are available to review resumes and provide opportunities for students to practice interviews.

March - My Amazing Future

Over the past four years, IWIN members were instrumental in creating an interactive, field experience all-day workshop for young women in middle and high school. Conducted in collaboration with the College of Southern Idaho’s (CSI) Annual Girls in Technology (GIT) Conference, My Amazing Future has expanded to include students from local Idaho Falls schools. Twin Falls and Idaho Falls, Idaho-area middle and high school girls spent the day learning about science and engineering. Eager and excited, these young women were ready to learn about INL and the potential careers that exist in the field of science and technology. Each student that visited the INL was a second year participant in the GIT Conference. First year GIT Conference participant attend workshops at the CSI campus. The day was filled with exciting learning opportunities. The students participated in tabletop presentations about the engineering life cycle, space battery program, robotics, chemistry, physics, cultural resource management, industrial safety, and DNA and microorganisms.

July 20-22 - 2011 U.S. WIN Region IV Conference (Idaho Falls)

IWIN supports the WIN Region IV Conference, themed, "It’s the Climb." Conference details are available and registration is now open.

Past Activities

Boise State’s E-Girl Science Camp

IWIN participated in the Boise State E-Girls Science Camp. This weekend seminar for 15 and 16 year old girls focuses on interactive science presentations and includes the girls staying in the dorms overnight. IWIN provided sessions on "When does metal break?" used a tensile tester to break steel and aluminum bars.

Idaho State University’s Electronics Camp

IWIN supports the Idaho State University summer electronics camps held in Idaho Falls. A wide range of students from as young as 3rd grade on up attend. IWIN volunteers help arrange logistics and schedule women technical professionals to meet and speak with the girls each day during the camp.
